Industrial Process

An industrial process is the complex set of operations that result in the transformation of raw materials, energy and signal (data/information) into a final product (which, in turn, can be a material object, as well as energy or signal or a combination of them).

Information

Information can be defined as a structured representation using data and interpretations from a certain viewpoint. It is structured, articulated, codified, and stored in certain media. The most common forms of information are manuals, documents, and audio-visual materials. Information is not related to individuals but it has an interpretative content. By watching the daily news from different countries it is easy to witness how different information can be about the same facts and events [Kucharavy, De Guio, 2009]
Applied meaning is close to “explicit knowledge[1]”.
How does one get it? Facts, data and sets of data + Interpretation. Information is what we learn.

[1] Explicit knowledge is knowledge that has been or can be articulated, codified, and stored in certain media. It can be readily transmitted to others. The most common forms of explicit knowledge are manuals, documents and procedures. Knowledge also can be audio-visual. Works of art and product design can be seen as other forms of explicit knowledge where human skills, motives and knowledge are externalized. [Wikipedia]
